Our journey so far

With over 30 years of experience supporting the oil and gas industry we have lived through various oil price cycles. At each turn, we have worked to stay at the forefront of a changing industry by taking strategic actions and pioneering the transition from a vessel owner to an integrated OSV and logistics services provider.

  • 2018

    Secured long-term contract extension to 2025 (plus options) with BP for 12 vessels in Azerbaijan.

  • 2017

    UMC Engineering created its new operating division - UMC Solutions - to focus our strategic diversification into additional segments of the energy industry.

  • 2016

    Secured substantial contracts in connection with the development of the Tengiz oilfield in Kazakhstan and secured 14 offshore support vessel contracts with BP Exploration in the Caspian.

  • 2014

    UMC secured equity investment of $75 million from Standard Chartered Private Equity to fund future growth.

  • 2012

    UMC Marine established its global operations, UMC Marine Global, and entered the iran and Afghanistan markets.

  • 2009

    UMC launched its new corporate brand and the new divisional brands, UMC Marine and UMC Engineering.

  • 2006

    UMC's marine repair activities commenced in MENA and Caspian.

  • 2005

    UMC merged with Renaissance Services SAOG of Oman to acquire BUE Marine Services, thereby making its entry into the Caspian Sea market.

  • 2002

    UMC started new manufacturing lines within oil and gas fabrication works and installation such as pressure vessels, process skids and structural works.

  • 2001

    UMC added rig refurbishment and marine repair activities to its Abu Dhabi based operations.

  • 1999

    UMC entered into a joint venture with Doosan Babcock for boiler servicing and repairs.

  • 1998

    UMC Energy and Marine acquired Nico, and listed on the Muscat Securities Market.

  • 1988

    Nico established Nico World, an offshore support vessel-owning and operating company.

  • 1973

    Nico International, now a subsidiary of UMC, was established in Dubai to service the increasing marine traffic generated by the oil boom.
